You have to toe a fine line if you're talking a out long term sustainability without much tinkering .
You don't want to take away their culture and basically invade their territory even if with the best intent that could lead to assimilation
But just giving aid and walking away leads to corruption.
But really who helps anyone without gain for themselves when it comes to foreign policy?
Idk

But y'all need to make up y'alls minds about the kind of involvement y'all want the US to have in african affairs.
If money is sent, it is embezzled by corrupt government officials and ends up in private hands or foreign banks.
If military action is engaged, y'all bytch and moan about invasions and collateral damage. Talmbout how evil US soldiers are.
So what does that leave? Flying over dropping money out of planes? Facebook pokes?
Lemme hear some well thought out plans that don't involve what the US did then, but rather what you think the US should do NOW. TIA!

IA with alllllllllllllll of this!
Folks want help, but do they know what kind of help they want? How about some constructive ideas on what we can do with our time/money/efforts?
Or is this just another "I hate Obama" thread?

Our President is a piece of crap. We held elections last year and he cheated. He knew that the elections were going to be contested, so he sent the magistrates on a vacation 9 a magistrates' kid told me this).
There are people who we would like to actually elect and move our country forward. That's why it pains me so much, when people here talk about not wanting to vote. I grew up in the DRC under Mobutu, I marched in protests, my school was looted and destroyed, I watched soldier rebels and went to bed listening to the sound of gunshots. I still remember my mother waking us up in the middle of the night and huddling in the hallway for fear of stray bullets.
The Congolese want peace and prosperity, we just don't sit back and wait for The West to save us. We marched and protested against Mobutu, we also tried to vote out Kabila, but it seems that democracy might not be the answer for the DRC. Forgive me for rambling and the grammatical errors, but this is all very upsetting.
