KANSAS CITY, Kan./KCTV -
The record-setting new waterslide at Schlitterbahn will not open when the rest of the park does and new online reports are giving a possible reason why.
Schlitterbahn has only said that it delayed the opening of
their Verruckt water slide to make sure everything is right, but testing
for the slide may have revealed a problem of riders going airborne.
A blog post released Wednesday claims the delay was because test riders launched into the air towards the bottom of the ride.
The
Kansas City, KS, water park officially opens for the summer season
Friday and it was originally planned for the 17-story-tall ride to open
the same day. Then, last week, Schlitterbahn announced they were
delaying the ride's opening for safety reasons.
The water slide is still under construction; they are making adjustments.
Schlitterbahn
said the delays are to be expected with a one-of-a-kind ride like
Verruckt. Schlitterbahn denies the reports, saying they are just doing
some work to correct what they call the "ride not behaving properly."
Riders will hit speeds of 60-to-70 miles per hour in a four-man raft.

it seems like with a raft.. all you need is one or two heavier people to tip it the wrong way as you go into the air a little.. and we'll land on our faces at a 60mph impact..
