People live all sorts of lives.

I read the blog of someone who retired in their 30's on an engineer's salary, lives in a great neighborhood in colorado, beautiful home, eats great food, takes vacations, has a child, and spends 25k for a family of 3 including a child in a good public school.

People prioritize different things. It's possible to live well and not have a high income.

So do you believe the people who don't have a high income and don't have beautiful homes with plenty of vacations are in that situation because they don't have good priorities?

I'm sitting here thinking of all the people who can't afford to have kids and all the ones that are too busy. A cop can't have children ... firefighters, postal workers, nurses, paralegals hmmm, and doctors and lawyers are too busy. Only Singers/Athletes and i guess the Kardashians can have kids.

it doesnt have to be like that IOSH. What societies should do is time the conception of kids so a certain amount of workers (male and female) ALL go off the job for 3-4 years to raise kids and then the non kid having workers pick up the slack and then they switch back! doing it this way will lessens the need for all those workers too, less people over all eventually.ClapClap

I don't think that would ever happen, if it did happen somewhere, it definitely wouldn't go down in the US.

I forgot to put teachers on the list of people who can't have kids.

my brother worked at mcdonalds when he was in high school. he said he'd never eat micky d's ever again after working there. that's how i feel about daycare centers.

but like i said, pop in and be a looming presence. they'll treat your child better than the others cause they never know when you gone show up. just an fyi

Don't say you were summing up my points because I never said any of those things and I made that very clear.

of course this can happen but thanks for stating that as one of your fears

no one said anything about hurting.  it could just not be a good fit for your child based on what the child is communicating back to you.

anyway, again, imo, if one does not feel they are capable/able/willing (for whatever reason) of delivering the same kind of care/development that is provided in a freakin daycare center...then by all means...yes...one should rely on daycare.  personally, I know I could provide care/development over an above what could ever be offered in ANYONES daycare.  its work,  of course.  which is why I respect stay at home moms so much.

and before anyone decides to say that all stay at home moms are not the bizness.  fine.  i'll give you that.  but the same can be said for daycare....

do what's best for you.

Ships Diane 3.5 off to Auntie TC in chi-town.

Kindergarten (real school) out here is what i dont get it starts at about 6:30-12:30 WTFFFFF and you pay prep school prices and the kids wear uniforms. then you got to pick them up midday an wtf do you do with them after thatOuchOuch Daycare/creche can last between 10-12 hours, they are taught as well, it's a better value for money they get bathed and a meal sometimeBig smiles

I am not sure I understand this comment.

But I do believe that once you decide to have a child, you are able to   provide.
Even if a person is on Gov't assistance they can be present emotionally and physically as a parent.

There are some people I know that are on assistance, and do a great job, but the kids do suffer the consequence because of the stress the parent is undergoing unless they are multi dimensional.

Wealth does not equal love. Some wealthy folks can afford child care, but the only love their child/children get is from the caregiver...eg Nanny/Housekeeper/babysitter

I apologize in advance if I am misunderstanding your post.

She was summarizing maysay's view of the topic.

Thank you for clarifying

Nope, just that different people have different priorities. Whether those are good or bad are debatable.

Some people prioritize paying off debt, living below their means (whether it's a little or a lot), and saving because then it allows them the freedom to do the things that are really important to them like have children or travel the world or whatever.
