I remember driving past a mediocre day care center in town. The sign boasted a special: $350 a week for daycare.

$350 week
4 weeks in a month
$1,400 month
$16,800 year

My face after I did the mental math: jawdrop

Just throwing this out there if anyone is curious.  In 2011 while I was in school, my daycare bill was $1,100/mo for one full-time and one before school.  Yes, I could have found some child herding center for cheaper, but this place was fabulous, loved my children and my youngest had preschool built into his day.

Most people I know don't even look for a daycare until they're pregnant.

yeah that's about right and that's probably not even "top notch"

just regular (not sub par) daycare

It's the middle class that suffers. Lower class qualifies for caps and upper class can afford it.

I want kids in about 7 years for lots of reasons..
I don't think you have to have a specific reason.

Love them and care for them and teach them.

I think I'd bear good fruit and I love kids but I'd only have kids with my SO.
Wouldn't be the same if they weren't with him

To have a child just so they can have your name is so dumb it disgusts me.

And 6, 6 is just a lie. Most of existence today is not a joy. And people are deliberately bringing children into situations that are not only less than joyful but are HORRIBLE.

That would have been wonderful when our children were small.
Only time we ever considered actually living in the city.
Would have been great to jump a cab and steal a few minutes.
We always had help. No choice. But ahh...back then we were in our own little world with the kids.
Every single second was golden. We loved that none slept through the night.
All hours we'd be able to see them. Worked great until they were four or five. Then you couldn't wake 'em with a sledge hammer. LOLLOL
I still think that they're the most amazing people I know. So glad God gave them to us.
Matter of fact, let me call my son. Last I spoke to him some white English woman was buzzing around him across the pond. I want to make sure he swats that fly.LOLLOL

Suffer?
Birth control is cheaper than daycare.

Yeah I'm not feeling bad for anyone (obvious caveats apply...anyone in developed countries with reasonable access to birth control or abstinence), having a baby is a choice, an expensive choice.

and this is why every time my SO talks wanted more than 1 kid I laugh in his face.
