Not just deadbeat dads/moms. Any parent that commits a crime should be sterilized. The person has already proven they're a bad parent by having no regard for how their actions will affect their ability to raise their child properly, so they clearly shouldn't be allowed to have anymore.

Robbery(non violent)- Pay back damages plus paying for victim to install better security features  . Help the busted thief find a decent job, steering them to take enrichment courses to better their lives so they won't be as likely to keep stealing from others.

All of the ones that clearly aren't done out of self defense. Of course this would only work in a fair and just system where everyone has the same access to good legal representation and innocent people aren't convicted of things. I just feel like if you're committing crimes, then you're already endangering the life of any child you have or might have. Oh and I would extend this to parents whose minor children commit crimes or failing out of school or have their kids taken away due to abuse/neglect.
