ok, so i was basically tapping the back of my chi silk infusion bottle trying to get whatever drops out so i could flat iron. i washed my hair today.....

i looked all over my apartment for diff products i could use, i have various products that i didnt like or havent used yet so they collect dust. i'm broke right now so im not about to go spend on chi yet.

what i did have was proclaim gloss polisher. i didnt like that stuff so its a full bottle of it. but it said olive oil and it came out like chi would. so i used it as my heat protectant.....it came out great actually, combined w/ the leftovers of chi i could get out of the bottle. my hair has this great shine.

but my real question is, can u make a homemade heat protectant? or is there a substitute for heat protectant until u have enough money to buy a real one? and was it wrong for me to use the proclaim gloss polisher as a substitute? the directions on it say to just put it on the hair, nothing about heat protectant....

I think MOST products these days will act as some sort of heat protectant. I have a spray by Loreal Tecni.art that I spray on my hair, but usually I just use a leave in conditioner and a little bit of serum. My hair seems to be doing alright.

I wouldn't let myself run out... always have back up! But I'm sure your hair's fine as long as you don't do that all the time.

I use this when I blowdry.  It detangles and gives great shine.  I dont see why you cant use as a heat protectant.

I made a concoction that has Lotta Body and ORS Wrap Set Mousse in it. I used this when I ran out of heat protectant. It worked just fine.

yah i had some Lotta Body, but had no clue what to do w/ it. i was looking like some chemist who flunked out of college. i never know how to mix things together, so it scares me. thats why i picked just one thing.
