Topic: if girlfriends shouldn't do wife duties, Posted: Jan 08 2013 at 6:42pm |

is it reasonable to say the same of boyfriends? Boyfriends shouldn't do husband duties?
please add wife duties and husband duties if you wish
examples:
getting credit cards together
getting checking/saving accounts together
co-signing for anything
buying property together
washing their clothes
cooking for them everyday or almost everyday
pay their rent/mortgage
buy them a car
fixing up their car/apt/home
sex on call

when i think of husband duties im thinking of things like fixing my car, fixing something in the house, paying for xyz....i definitely expect my bf to fix something before i have to pay someone else to do it. any real man would fix something they're capable of doing before they have their girlfriend pay another man to.

I spoke with my boyfriend about this, and he said he would never propose to a woman that hadn't demonstrated to him that she'd make a good wife. As far as a man doing "husband" duties, I appreciate that my man does those things. What we do doesn't work for everyone, but it works for us.

Doing husband duties is a part of courting. He needs to show that he's capable of being a good provider.

I agree. My SO fixes my car, pays for everything, puts together things, and basically helps me with everything. He is super handy, which was great when we bought my desk from IKEA.
