I texturized my hair for the first time on Saturday and its a bit under-texturized. I used Just For Me Softener and left it on my hair for 5 minutes before washing it out.  I was completely natural 4a/3c and the 4a loosened up just slightly.  My hair is past my bra strap so it was a little challenging racing against the clock with processing it.

I wonder if I should redo it in a few weeks but not sure if I should use the same product or try something else on my hair.  In 34 years this is my first time ever having a relaxer on my hair (lifelong natural) so I am very new to this though I did a lot of research before starting. This was a calcium hydroxide relaxer but wonder if I should switch to lye instead but need to do more research to make sure its safe now I  used the calcium hydroxide.

1. How long should I wait before trying again?
2. Could I use a lye relaxer over no lye or should I stick with what I've used already.

TIA!

Update:

Last week I decided to do a corrective texturizer after my hair remained hard and "coated" even after using ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo to wash away some of the buildup.

This time I used Silk Elements Olive Oil Lye Relaxer and it came out much better.  Parts of it is still a bit underprocessed but I will wait about 6 months before considering correcting those areas.  If anyone's interested I can outline what I did this time.

Thanks for sharing! I texturized my hair for the first time 4 months ago and honestly my hair looks and feels exactly the same. Its only softer in some areas. I left it on for exactly how long it said so I was afraid to overprocess. Can you PM me what you did

When using JFM, the process time needs to match that inthe directions. 5 minutes is far too short. I normally go closer to 10 or 12.
