actually, when I think about it
if I helped a friend get their life together and they peaced out once they got their sh*t straight I would be like well f you to then
I mean if we never had a falling out and you just up and end the friendship after your life is now improved thanks to me, yep I would feel a certain way

It wasn't to really say they are similar.I just want to gauge how people feel about helping or " upgrading" people on general.

IMO an investment is an investment, whether it's a friend, relative, business contact or SO.
I
can make more money, I can make more contacts. But my time is the most
valuable thing I have. So if I take time from my life to help you
out/point you in the right direction/etc, you need to know that the
favor should be returned if and when the opportunity presents itself.
Because if I come to you in my time of need and you act salty...we're done.

I am a super appreciative person
I can't imagine ending a relationship after someone has stood by me and helped me reach my goals
if the relationship is going to sh*t for other reasons, fine
but if not, how dare you drop someone completely after they help you
at least keep in touch lol

Damn. See yeah I don't do favors with eye on getting a return on my investment . I do it bc the person is my friend and I love then. And ibc they love me I'm sure if I ever needed help they would help me without question. But I don't look at it as a return . Eww The way your phrased that seems so cold and calculating. I don't like friendships like that
