I had a big crush on this girl named Jessica in my middle school band class. I played alto sax and she played clarinet. She was in 8th grade though. And generally speaking, 8th grade girls didn't pay a single strand of attention to short 6th graders. So I admired from afar.
Until one day we were having a program. I forget what it was for exactly, but the entire school would be watching us perform in the gym. So we got to get out of class and help set up and practice and whatnot.
The day of the performance we were in the gym just relaxing until it was time for us to get ready, and all of the cool kids were sitting in the bleachers chatting. So I said eff it, I wanna be next to Jessica, so I went up to the bleachers, sat with her group, and tried to ease my way into the conversation. The girl Jessica actually said something to me, but this was really my first time being extra close to her, and I realized she had a wart or something on her hand.
Instantly. Crush was....crushed. To smithereens.

It's funny when you no longer have a crush, you realize you overlooked a lot of ish. She was talking and laughing and I'm sitting there thinking

'ewww, she got yellow teeth, and she chubby, and she got a stain on her shirt. And that BIG ASS NASTY HERPE WART THING."
