Hey Ladies:

I want to lighten up my unit a bit and have purchased the rit dye remover.

Can someone tell me how to use this stuff?

Do I pour the entire packet into hot water?

How long do I let the unit sit in the water OR do I just constantly dip the unit in and out?

Thanks in advance!

(Oh and I TRIED the search feature, but you all know how that is)

why are you using RIT dye remover? you should only use this if your unit will not respond to bleaching. Are you sure it was colored with clothing dye?

Dang I thought I used the rit dye remover to lighten the color.....I haven't tried bleaching the unit, I do know its colored with something because I tried to put color on it and it didnt take at all.

What should I do?

Try bleaching it first and see if it responds to that!

Starr.. thats a great question!

I went to Sally's and the lady convinced me to buy "color corrector" and a 10 volume developer.. after about an hour spent with those, the color is still jet black!

Should i get the Rit Dye (and where would i find that) or should i bleach? And if i use too much bleach will my hair wither away? one of my friends bleached her natural hair and her her started breaking like crazy..

ooh this is good...ive got a similar question. i just got my kinky from jack and even though i asked for the natural colour, it kinda looks like it was coloured, and the tag says #2. i was wondering whether to try bleaching the knots first then buy the rit dye if it doesnt work, or just do the rit dye right away?

If the hair is 1 or 1b you may need to use the rit color remover.  Read the journal of my fotki. If you're lifting the color on the entire unit let the water cool.  If you're just bleaching the knots turn the cap inside out and use a dipping motion

Ebony, I have never used Rit Dye Remover.  Can you explain to me why you would use rit dye remover rather than something like Loreal color zapper  or  oil bleach?    If the hair is stubborn you just use more of it.

Is Rit Dye Remover easier on the hair or lace?
