The static contribute to the flyaway. Perhaps you should go to the salon and have your hair moisten with cream. Or a very easy way, make your hair wet.

It's not the short hairs that's giving me the problems, it's the stray hairs on the sides. (Looks like I stuck my finger in an electric socket the way my flyaways look lol!)

actually its the cold weather that makes that happen.. so i would do the hairspray, mousse etc.... wearing the coats and the static electricity is what's making it happen..

I have a feeling since I tuck my hair inside my coat when I'm out in the cold and  wearing a hat , all that rubbing may be causing the flyaway/static. i could only put so much water and a comb throughout the day to lay the hair down.

@Favored1, I may have to buy that product and carry it my purse. I can't see myself carrying around a can of mousse lol! Smile

Yes this product works very well...I wouldn't want to carry around a big can of mousse eitherLOL
The lack of hydration/moisture in the hair and in the air is the cause of your problem in addition to the rubbing from your coat. During winter months there is no moisture in the air so the hair drys out quickly and the reason I suggested using more hydrating conditioner and addding more to the staticy hairs....with hydrated hair your won't have this problem.

Be careful using mousse, hairsprays or gels as most of them contain alcohol which is a known ingredient that dries out the hair. Other suggestions are dryer sheets...yes the ones you use for laundry (no more static and great smelling hair) and Hawaiian Silky 14-in-1.

Good Luck

I feel you... flyaways are so annoying!

My secret weapon: http://www.drugstore.com/renpure-organics-argan-oil-deep-penetrating-oil-treatment/qxp375049

This stuff isn't greasy.
It's not as sticky as some silicone products.
It takes care of the flyaways and gives the hair a dazzling shine.
It's a great product because it ABSORBS into the hair and makes it less "crunchy".
The moisturizing nature of this stuff makes hair behave without making it look unnatural.
I bought it on the sales rack of my local drug store a while ago and I was SHOCKED by how effective it was.
Pro-Tip! Less is more with this stuff... I'm still on my first bottle (8 months later) and I'll have to buy some more soon.
I rub a quarter sized drop between my hands to warm it up, apply it to my ends and rub what's left on my hands over the top of my hair to tame my part. I brush my hair through with a boar-bristle-type bush for a minute and I am DONE!
The good news is that this stuff does not build up in the hair. It absorbs in and keeps things smooth and soft. The next day I repeat the process. It smells nice too. It sort of smells like clean air and baby powder.

The directions say that you should apply it to damp hair. I guess I don't listen! LOL. I use it on dry hair, but since you are using a damp comb to tame your flyaways, you can use it after you dampen your hair or try it "straight up" like I do. It's a bit more forceful without any water involved... but since dry-hair application makes it more concentrated, consider starting off with a dime-sized dollop or a nickel-sized drop.

Just keep in mind, it has oil in it so make sure you keep it way from any areas where there could be direct contact with tape or adhesive.

It's not too pricey and it is worth a try.
