it won't be silky straight unless u jus got a relaxer or fresh flat iron n maybe hair spray around edges to keep from quick reversion(but u may not want to use hair spray)............if u flat iron ur hair u can use lets jam or a pomade to slick down edges and tie w/ a scarf....this way the edges will look good, but maybe not super straight, but it will look good w/ the rest of ur hair being straight.....my edges look good and blend w/ my hair nicely.......keep us posted on what u decide

Hello. I would not recommend jam or qp elasta it,s just very greasy and oily. It will clog your pours. You did say you want your hair to grow right? lol. You might not have the patience but use heat protector and use the hot comb or carefully rub the curling iron against your edges and hair line. I recommend mizani heat protector for this. It will give it a shine and hold it straight. Also aveda has a hold stick that will hold that baby hair and your edges still like a deer in head lights lol. But I know it works. Sometimes I would use it on natural hair and if I am doing a snatch pony tail the real oneWink

Would it be okay to use Lets Jam if you are co-washing at least once a week?  I am 5 weeks into stretching and feeling a little itchy on the scalp.  What can I do for the itch?  This usually happens around week four after perm.

I agree with the head bands, i wear them all the time and sometimes if i cant find a color or pattern i want i go to the fabric store and buy a small amount of spandex (because it stretches) fabric and i tie it like a head band i put a little bow in the back or leave the back hanging.

I wash or co-wash and blow dry my hair. I then put in my hair a nice cream mostly on the edges (I use pink moisturizer most times with BioSilk, but you can use whatever) and wrap palstic wrap around my edges. U can also use a good plastic bag cut up in pieces. Put on a heating cap or hood dryer for 15 - 20  min. It only lasts as long as you put minimal products and no hair spray spritz.

i usually apply some mango butter and lets jam and do the scarf method, where I tie down a scarf while i get ready for work and then take the scarf off and my edges will be straight, but after a while they will start to get wavy. Another product that I love to use is IC pomade, i got mine from walgreens
