I beg to differ on Chi Silk Infusion not being a heat protectant,Chi Silk Infusion is a serum AND heat protectant, just look at the ingredients.

But unlike I used to do back in the day, I'd not apply it shortly before flat-ironing,(that's when the ceramic flat-irons made their debut), I'd apply it to my hair while wet, then dry either by rollersetting under a dryer or otherwise and THEN flat-iron.

well, ive tried so many things, and i Finally found the perfect routine for me. i roller set the hair, a good foaming wrap lotion is necessary- something not drying or make your hair crunchy ( i hate that). i use Nairobi setting lotion. next i blow dry the roller set the hair out, this get the roots straight and your rest of the strands straight so the pressing will be much smoother. next, i press the hair ( no more than 1" thick) and PIN CURL the hair, the hair will set again after the heat is put on it, so once the hair is cool and you take the hair down, the hair will stay curly and bouncy. my curls stayed in for a week NO LIE

heres the pic the first day i pressed the hair

the end of the week

my routine is kind of a watered down version of the Dominican blow out, i saw how silky the hair came when did them, so i took and ran with it, tweaking the routine and using my own products.

TRUE! before my presses would be dull and terrible becuase i put on to much product. it weighed it down, nd it was super greasy. but just 5 days ago i used not even a dime worth of CHI silk infusion on my roots on each part and a little shea butter on my ends and it cme out glorious! less is more!

I use this argan oil to get a silky straight press.  I have a medium tight dry curl and this has made all the difference in the world.  www.winarganoil.com
