Chi Silk infusion is my favorite, but biosilk also gives it that silky feel and extra bounce.

Ive found that the way to get a silky press is to use very little product, and no oils, and no products with water in it because my hair will revert...I use aphogee hair serum/protectant, I put it on before I blowdry, then I flat iron with my jilbere I dont add any additional product and my hair stays straight for weeks usually 2.

chi silk infusion did NOTHING for me. i had a pretty good flat iron too.
I have a croc. I flat ironed one small patch of hair with no protectant and it was silky and remained straight for hours in texas weather
when i tried it with the chi silk infusion my hair was an afro before i was done
but it wasn't a total waste since my flat iron promotes growth and fixes damage

Say whuh? A flat-iron can do that? I am here to learn & I'm all ears... I co-sign on the silk-infusion. Its not, nor ever has been a heat protectant. Its an excellent shine/sheen product for after you press or iron. I use it when I prolong my presses with rollersets. Just a tiny bit on the ends and all over the hair before I roll it up for the nite.

I DEF think the key is not to load it up on product. Some type of product is necessary to get a silky straight press, but a little goes a long way! If you use too much product it will weigh your hair down and won't move!!

IMO, the best blow dryer makes the difference. Those 1875 watt hair dryers do nothing for me.
I bought a Babyliss Pro Ceramic Xtreme 2000 Watt blow dryer from TJ Maxx for 24.99 and it is awesome. Cuts drying time in half.
Before blow drying I apply Instyler's Vitamin E Serum.
Then I press my hair in small sections at 450 degrees using Rusk's Flat Iron and Chi's Iron Guard.
My press can last two weeks, except for my roots but I live in S. Florida.
I am a 4b/c.
