I plan to grow out my nails and do cute polishes.

I cannot go to a nail salon .
I can't breathe there and I hate fake nails and the things they put in them but nice nails will make me feel more ladylike

- Don't curse or fight (don't yell, avoid being loud)

- Be a calm person and keep your composure ( even when angered, learn how to voice your disagreement without loosing your cool)

- Stay clean and well-groomed ( basic hygiene like daily showering/bathing, keeping hair maintained, no bonnets/rollers in public, nails clean, etc)

- Wear clothing that fits (know that dressing nicely doesn't = showing a lot of skin, leave things to the imagination)

- Be educated (read books, stay informed on world events, politics, history, literature, different cultures, etc.)

- Don't smoke

- Be well-mannered (avoid vulgarity/ 'dirty'/sexually inappropriate jokes/conversations, don't gossip, be respectful to others, etc.)

I think being a lady is a frame of mind and a code that all comes back to treating others how you'd like to be treated (which is, let's face it, sometimes better than they deserve).

Be thoughtful, polite, courteous, positive-- put your best foot forward to encourage others and make them feel appreciated, welcomed.

If that means updating your wardrobe, remembering birthdays, learning how to entertain, being well versed in current events and literature, engaging others in conversation, paying/accepting sincere compliments, having constructive hobbies-- whatever.

Become better as a person and inspire others to do the same.

But I curse… so *shrug*

I think many feel the same way about being a gentleman.

These rules a of being 'lady/gentleman' are thrown out the window, when being a gentleman is belittled and devalued, and ruffians are put on pedestals and glamorized.

Just throw on some eyeliner and mascara, and dont know sh*t about sports

I cuss like a sailer, have a deep voice and look terrible 75% of the time, and people still tell me all the time "you're such a girl" or "prissy".

i fully agree with all of the above. not that one is seeking the approval or recognition form others, but one could tend to think--why bother if people are not deserving of that.

well the fact of the matter is that, you're deserving of that. you know better, thus you do and act better.
