The best bet is to get an old barber/beautician who did it back in the day. Take the picture with you when you go and don't be afraid to ask have they ever cut hair in that manner. The barbers today are not use to cutting a simple round fro. Me, I actually cut my own head after awhile - through trial & error. I know your pain of the jacked fro
& I did it to myself. Finally I learned to start with damp oiled hair and pick it into the basic shape. Don't pat it onto the shape, pick. Cut off anything that was out of place. Now I must admit I did have a scissor addiction. So cutting was no big thing to me. I've gotten a little better but i still have to go to cutters anonymous.
In the mean time get you some colorful scarves & rock out the head bands. That's when I learned how to do all my head wraps, back puffs, etc. While it was growing I was still looking "purty"
You'll get it. Angela Davis was my hair idol back then. Gurrrl she had FRO!!! http://www.biography.com/people/angela-davis-9267589
Good luck let me know how things work out.
