Have you worked at all with people from the A? If so have you heard of Verse, Rock City or Sham AKA Sak Pase? Verse is now an artist, but he and Sak Pase used to produce. Rock City are writers for any major artist you can name...and Sak Pase produced Man Down on Rihanna last album...The industry is a crazy place, but with perseverance & talent..you can get in...

Well Im still working at it and im gonna continue to try my group is getting better with every song, our producer is getting better, we did decent in the online contest, did our first photo shoot last week, and were gonna start shooting video's soon. I really think its about the effort you put in it and how much you are willing to invest in yourself.

yea it is the effort you put in and how much you invest yourself to make it in here
another thing i see you doign the group thing.word to the wise and because of the nature of the industry, make sure YOU stand out in the group.im saying this because when it comes to groups there is always a favorite member or two that everyone loves from the fans to the a&rs and execs.plus there is always that one group member who doesnt put in alot of effort that the other group members put in.so make sure you are the face of the group, make sure your bars is tight to where ppl only like your verses or play your verses over and over.and if you have a good rapping voice that works as well.also try to do different type of songs even if you dont like it.like you can do a trap song or some other type of song(idk what your sound is so im just thowing stuff out there) just to see if you are versatile and they wanna put someone out your group on an r&b or pop song.gotta go the distance in the game
but you are still young and getting things together so keep it up and meet as much ppl you can in the industry even if you have to goto showcases and events by yourself

I know exactly what you mean and for that reason one member hasnt been on some recent songs and is on the verge off getting booted

Does nicki minaj sell sex? She is my inspiration for being an older musician. Jlo , Carly rae jepsen and madonna.

i don't consider her an older artist, i just consider her an artist that got older. her first mixtape dropped when she was like 24-25 which is young, imo.
when you start talking about JLo and Madonna I get confused b/c i thought the question was what age is too old to START...not what age should you stop. Madonna was also in her early or mid 20's when her first album dropped.

Wow PR not many people up on these guys!! They are super duper talented! Name any artist and I can pull up the hits they've written for them...from Janet, coochie cat dolls, to Flo Rider...these guys catalog is crazy...So when I say I know niccas that got it...but are having issues with crossing over and having their own success as far as individual artist, I'm not just puffin smoke.

They've changed their name I believe 3 times. It's an issue with copyrights to the RC name. However, they're from an area in VI that is called Rock City...I worked with them closely for about 3 years and at that time, they were rock city. Timothy is don't talk (he is the rapper) and Theron is The spokes man (and he primarily sings)

Sham? Yes he is and when I say the sweetiest!! I had a low key crush on him. Sweet guy and manors for days!! Verse was born in PR his mom is from VI...so he's a mix of a bunch of stuff...He did a song with Kelly Rowland called Boo Thang that was a hit. He also did Buy you a round, which was also a good break record...I'll say this...the music industry is not for the faint at heart.

IMO, there are certain genres where starting out at anything other than
your early 20s is going to be hard. But much of it depends on what
demographic you're looking to market yourself to.
Rock, hiphop
and true R&B allow you to be as old as possibly mid 30s and still
break into the business as a mainstream artist. However, usually you
will find that people who "made it" at an older age were already
involved with the industry on some level i.e. backup singers, ghost
writers, etc.
Now, if you're focusing on that financially loyal
13 - 24 demographic, you're going to need to be younger as your fan base
will always be cycling in and out.
Also ask yourself if you're
looking to only "make it" in the US or international as well. The US is
probably one of the hardest markets to penetrate as there is a lot of
politics involved that aren't necessarily there when you're a US artist
trying to break into other countries.
Fans are more loyal
internationally and will also run interference for you with various
media outlets ranging from traditional (print/tv) to new media (blogs,
internet radio, etc).
I work with a lot of artists and
definitely distributing and promoting them abroad works better even in
getting them visibility here in the US. It has that "why are you the
last to know about someone in your own country" effect I find.
