I was going to pinpoint an age and then I remembered that there are jazz bands of a certain age that rock out and have a lot of gigs. So, there isn't an age limit as long as the money is flowing in.

I think that it strongly depends on the genre. Country music is more forgiving of age, but that industry doesn't like the "instant stars" that AI or XFactor produce; you get more credit if you have been doing small-time things for a while and have paid your dues. Unless you're black; then theyre not checkin for you

In rock, the lead singer of the GooGoo Dolls was almost 30 before their first hit; he was actually about to give up

Adult Contemp. will play  your stuff regardless of age(Susan Boyle)

Idk anything about re e

if youre pushin 30, you should prob. stay away from rap/hiphop/dubstep. seems like a younger person's thing. Also, if you make it and burn out, its easier to start over when youre younger (like 25) than it is later on (like 35)

Just make sure that you have real talent.

Someone please tell that to KeshaDead and carly rae Jepsen

i started trying to get in around 20-21 and got in at 23.although i aint superstar status ive made enuff $$$ to be comfortable for now plus i know alot of people and still is meeting new connects in the industry to take sh*t to the next step

its really about who you know and what you are trying to do in the industry which will determine how fast you are trying to get in.if you are trying to be an artist forget about it

Good let me ask you. From the people you know who are "in the industry" that you know on a personal level, that have mad talent mind you...how many has made a true dent in being a cross-country success?

The reason I ask is that I worked in music industry for years in Atlanta and I know many many people that imo are tremendously talented but aren't gonna buss. It's just the nature of the industry...so what at what point do you understand this and just get what you can get and move on?

at this point ehhh,none really

as far as upcoming artists no.some might have managers who are well connected but their poor work ethic and attitude once they signed that contract ruined their chances.matter of fact i knew one and his career took off videos everywhere but his poor attitude towards others landed him back in the hood

as far as producers and writers same sh*t.some has 1 or two hits with an artists but cant seem to get anymore placements years after that.the industry is tricky so if you not getting money doing other sh*t you aint gonna be relevant at all.if this was the 90s when there was money to throw on anyone, cool.right now you gotta give em a reason to give you money
