After a year of transitioning from relaxed hair to natural I want to get the big chop, but I'm not sure yet. Anyway how long do you think my natural hair would be if I didn't get a perm in a year?

Assuming your the average monthly growth rate is 0.5 inches, your natural hair should be 6 inches long, just touching SL.

But everyone has different growth rates and most people either grow just under or just under the average. You could increase your growth rate by taking growth aides like nixoin, megatek, biotin, msm, etc and to get good quality hair growth make sure you drink lots of water and have a healthy vaired diet.

But remember GROWTH DOESN'T MATTER IF THERE IS NO RETENTION!

Some women have transitioned for nearly 3 years, so good luck!

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Do you want to know what your length will be if you do the BIG CHOP. Or are you wondering what your length will be after 2 years of transitioning? Well I will share my growth.......here's a picture.

1st row- front length
2nd row- side length
3rd row- back length
1st column- black & white shirt is my BIG-CHOP length- December 2010
2nd column- brown shirt & me at 3 months- March2011
3rd column- black shirt & me at 6 months- June 2011

BIG-CHOP length- maybe ear length?
3 months natural length- hitting neck length
6 months natural length- full neck length

***Depended on my hair being stretched out.

But next friday (December 23rd) will be my 1 year anniversary of being completely natural, but you must also keep in mind that I transitioned for 8 months, I have been protective styling for 6 months straight & I have been trying to stay away from constantly checking my length. I am going to do a length check next week and I am hoping that I will be "shoulder length". I will hopefully also post a video or picture post or something like that. I am also going to straighten my hair for the 2nd time.

But I also agree with the other ladies.....despite getting length, I have to work at keeping it, by taking the BEST care of my hair that I can. Care depends on the hair & person. I learned that my hair LOVES protein. But it also LOVES it when I deep condition. As well as moisturize daily. Growth also depends on how much your hair grows regularly, and if you are using growth aides. Smile
