I'm planning on doing this for mine. I don't have my ring yet but I have my dress picked out and have all sorts of ideas for my backyard.

It's kinda funny though, I'm not in too much of a rush to do the ceremony but he doesn't want the engagement to go more than a yr (if we can help it).

nah, i never pictured a traditional formal wedding for myself, even since early childhood. i want lil kids running wild, old folks laughing and the rest juking, twerking, getting their eagle on, line dancing and dancing like james brown at the receptionLOL.

my cousin's bbq wedding was on the grounds of his wife's family's very stately home. the guests were super casual in bbq attire. the wedding party had on their formal wear tux gown etc for the ceremony, then went in the house and changed into their jeans, cut off tee shirts, flip flips, sneakers and the reception began.

They had a big company come in with the best bbq (ribs pulled pork, burgers sausage, etc) and these huge bbq grills. big tent outdoors to eat & to party. big separate play area for the kids including the motorized cars and a play house. Since it was on private property with many acres, the music could blast as loud and wild as they wanted so it was as a true celebration.LOL

i'll see if the pix are on my computer & if yes, i will post 1-2 of them. BBQ weddings are greatSmile

ClapClapClapSee, thats the best thing about it. There is no need for a strict head count, strict guest list etc when it is a casual, well planned bbq wedding. I hate when people have to turn down friends and extended family members or say 'no children allowed' b/c the per plate cost is prohibitive.  No need for guests that have already paid $$$ to travel to have to pay $$$$ for expensive dresses & suits.
