Topic: How long is too long for the office? Posted: Jan 07 2013 at 8:50pm |
Hii!!
I am graduating college this year and I would like opinions on hair length and professionalism. Since I havent spent much time in an office enviroment I would just like some insight.
Ps. I am going into Marketing And Public Relations and i currently rock 22inches but its curled

First of all CONGRATS!!!! I think it depends on how you well you pull it off, and how polished it looks. Polished meaning great blending, not too big, etc.
I also wear 22 inches, usually curled. Sometimes I'll do 24. I'm 5'10, but mostly legs, not torso, so the hair is still about waist length on me. But I think wearing long, curled hair goes with my personality and wardrobe. So it depends on how you carry it.
Sometimes I'll pin the sides back and leave the back down, just for a more office-oriented look (depending on who's coming in the office and what I'm wearing). Consistency is also a good. Don't wear 22 inches in one month, a 10 inches the next month, then jet down to 30. I mean, you can. At the end of the day, it's your hairstyle. I just like consistency because I'm boring.
I graduated college two years ago, and am working my first office job, so I may not be of great help. But so far I haven't gotten any comments about how long my hair is. Plus Marketing and PR are relatively creative fields. If you were going into the legal field, I'd suggest pinning your 22 inches in a bun and letting it down during company happy hours

Any length past your butt is pushing it IMO. But it also has a lot to do with styling, as long as it isn't styled too glamorously you should be fine. If the white/hispanic/asian woman can swang their hair around the office you can too. Now if your job is strict on dress code, just wear it in a low bun.

I agree, I think that you can pull off a 22in, as long as it is Conservative and professional looking

Styling and color is more relevant to professionalism than length, IMO.

I work in human resources as a staff development trainer. I'm before people all the time and get compliments all the time on my hair. I wear 26 inch 1b with a hint of #4 throughout but I keep it curled and looking professional. I never wear it up in a bun or low ponytail. I think you should always do you and what makes you comfortable!

TIA | How tall are you? 22 in might be too long for someone 5'5. But it could be okay if you are tall. I'm 6' tall and I wear 24 in but my hair only touches my bra strap so it's not unprofessionally long.

as long as it's not 30-40 inches, it should be all good. i've never been to work in anything shorter than 22 inches but i generally keep my styles very conservative (ie; low ponytails, buns, side braids).
