yeah it can take a while to 'get over' a breakup especially if it was a long relationship/serious.
But  how long before you move on/date again? whether you're 'over' the person or not. Folks married for 20+ years still not over their high school sweetheart lol, and will tell you that.

But  I sorta think that the longer you go without putting yourself out there to date, the longer it will take to get over the person.  I guess it's a conundrum though--if your heart is broken you don't want to be out there dating, but if you aren't out there dating your heart will feel broken much longer.

eta: I say fake it til you feel it.

Somewhere between 1 week and 1 month. I tend to move on quickly. I'm good at swallowing pain though. Ppl tell me I'm really strong but I just bottle things up and then they don't exist anymore. It's not strength, it's a cop out defense mechanism I learned during times of unhappiness growing up but it works for me. I'm not a "look back" type of person except when it comes to one relationship but even then it's a happy thing, there was never a real mourning.
