I want to get my hair braided but I was planning on waiting about six weeks or less after I get my relaxer. I'm getting my relaxer put in this friday. My sister-in-law was telling me I can get the braids put in one or two weeks after my relaxer. But I thought you are supposed to wait longer or until I get enough new growth. Also I was wondering what kind of hair can I use for this?
My sister-in-law said I'm supposed to use synthetic, but this lady we know of that does braids that we were gonna go to first told us to buy human hair. I paid over $100 for human hair for 4 packs for my mom and I that I might not be able to use. My sister-in-law told me human hair is for micros only.

human hair for cornrows? man, that must be expensive! infact, it WAS expensive! waaay more expensive than 2 packs for 1.99 each. i only use synthetic for cornrows and everthing goes just fine!

anywho, wait around 2 weeks. i think that is a REALLY cute style! you can use synthetic and be fine

yeah, i agree with weave. 2 weeks should be good. if you did it sooner it would probably be alright, but just to be on the safe side, wait awhile before putting stress on the hair.

*steals style*  i'll have to try this one out on my mannequin. very cute!

if you get synthetic, get 100% kanekalon. you'll never know the difference.

That's a good question, I put a relaxer in my hair about 4-5 weeks ago but my hair in the back gets thicker than the front come touch up time, I'm getting micros this Thursday and I'm wondering should I just retouch the back or just wash and deep condition instead??

I'd say wash and deep condition.  That's what I did and my braids came out great!
