From watching BC videos I've noticed that when people do their BC their hair does not start to show their curl pattern right away. Maybe a few months later their hair starts to curl up.

How long did it take for your hair to get over the shock of your BC and start to form curls?

When my hair is wet in the shower my hair shows a curl/wave pattern with no product just water. BUT when I get out of the shower and apply leave it in doesn't curl or wave up.. it's just nothing. I have been going back and forth with myself on when to BC, but the fact that my hair won't show any pattern without being soaken wet is preventing me from BC'ng. if I BC at this point I'd hope to be doing W&G's but my hair is not acting right.

I BC'd after a few months of transitioning (8/9 or 10 months), so I was able to see my curl pattern straight away.

I'm not sure what type of curl you're looking for but some people don't have a lot of curl pattern  even when it gets longer.  I've seen a few ladies like that.

I have some very coily curly hair and some of my curls are so small so it would curl at half of inch of hair and it does.  Everyone's hair is different.

Even if you don't have a lot of curl pattern on your hair right now.  You can manipulate your to looking like you do with styling products.

Sounds as if you have 4a/4b hair. It may show some curls when soaking wet or when saturated with product..but when dry not so much. This texture is lovely just the same Smile If your hair is more kinky than curly focus less on defining curls and go look at braidouts/twist outs on 4a/4b hair. They're beautiful styles and I think it will give your hair the desired effect you seek.

Hope I helped!

Repeated henna use can loosen up your texture. There are also natural relaxers out there. But if you just don't have a curl pattern period it's not going to work.
I think bantu knot sets are the best way to get those big curls as opposed to kinky coils if that's what you're going for. A braid out will give you that deep wave look not so much curly but still cute.  You can youtube or google tutorials if needed.

not every one is going to have a "curl pattern"...that's not what "being" natural is about..

I think I understand what you mean.
I've big chopped 3 times (at 6 and 7 months), and all 3 times there was no curl definition, just frizzy ends. After a month of co-washing and snipping random straight hairs, the definition became visible.

I'm not sure if it's because of short straight hairs left over from the chop, or just a need for more moisture...
