I'm going to say it's about competition.
And sometimes it's really ridiculous.
I remember at my old job, I once asked one of my work 'friends' where she downloaded her music, and she told me  her brother put the music on for her. Couple days later, I overheard one of her more 'down' friends asking her about music, and she told them a website where she downloads all of her music. I had to shake my head to myself. I can only assume she didn't see me as much of a work friend, since she felt she had to keep the website top secret.

Funny enough, the same woman has very bad back acne on her back and shoulders, and she asked me what I recommend. I wanted to call her on it, but ppl like to catch amnesia suddenly, and it was at work and I didn't want the drama. I told her some things to use on her back.

I have experienced so many occasions where I knew a black woman purposely bullshhited me on the answer to beauty places, clothing stores etc. I feel like they want to be the 'baddest' and if they tell, then I'll be looking like them too.

I don't really like to see everyone looking alike, and I tend to stay away from most trends because of it, but there is nothing new under the sun. It's the nature of being human to be inspired by each other. Another woman and I can look similar, I don't mind. But I've noticed that women who see me as a 'threat' don't ever share things with me.

I don't tell people who I think would make bad customers. My hairstylist, my nail tech and my eyebrow threader are mah boos and if they were to get short-changed by someone I recommended I would be very upset.

Not too long ago, I recommended my eyebrow threader to a young lady and she wasn't happy with the price ($15), because she gets hers waxed for $10. She argued and argued until she RAN OUT without paying. Never again!

I've been meaning to ask this for awhile but do you guys feel some type of way about other Black women coming up to you either touching your hair or asking you questions about your hair... in public?

Like...

Omg! You're hair's so pretty! Is it yours?
How did you get that hairstyle?

This has always bothered me, as it is very tacky and rude. I think the general consensus among Black women must be that we are Black women therefore we have a sisterhood, a camaraderie, between us from the jump. Therefore, we can ask these (what I perceive to be) very personal questions in a public forum.

While that's all fine and dandy, I still think there needs to be understanding of public etiquette. How can I tell these women absolutely nothing about me without coming off as a b*tch?

I don't think that every Black woman who makes those types of comments necessarily feels any sort of camaraderie or sisterhood with you either. Perhaps it's overexcitement about the possibility of a style, maybe it's just lack of couth, or maybe they don't think those questions are especially personal to begin with.

That's how I feel about that girl! She ok but after being in class with her she can start mess and I just don't want that! Cause I spend money on my hair I pay a down payment on my weave and then I pay from my service after I'm finish and I know this girl does not spend money like I do!

Oh, and if I've experienced someone being a total bitch (whether to me or someone else) I rarely help them unless I have to. I never help or give tips to co-workers who bully other co-workers.

How do you tell someone I can't help you? I don't know if I'm explaining  myself .
Like what do you say?

It depends on what kind of help a mean person is asking for.

A work related issue, where I work with this person in a team, well I'll usually help.

If it's a question like, 'Hey, what beauty product should I use for this issue?' I may say something like, 'I don't know, why not go see a doctor?'

If it's a question like 'Where did you get that?' I may say, it was a gift, or I may say I don't remember.  I may even 'joke' with them and say, after the way you just treated so and so, you don't deserve to know *stick tongue out* and laugh

I don't mind telling because they can't go there anyway.
I just get mad when they trip about the prices....why the hell did you ask?
