How come light women like dark men and dark women

This was the same for my grandmother. Living in Virginia, she told her children that white men would harass her for hanging with the kneegrows (her siblings who were darker in complexion) and they would make sexual remarks.  She said she found the darkest man in VA to have her children by.

My father is dark, my mother is light.
My brother is light, his wife is really dark
My other brother is brown, his gf is brown
I'm "yellow" and my husband is "yellow"

But I never had a preference...Light, dark, fat, skinny....I like em all.

I feel ppl just like what they like. Some ppl like thin mates, some like thicker ones. Some like short hair, some like long. IMO, it's no difference.
