Can you explain this to me like I'm 5?
I feel like I must be...missing something...on purpose? or just failing to see due to my own bias? Idk.
Here in cali I know there was a debate about people using their ebt cards (ie welfare cash assistance) at casinos. I'm not sure what came of it, but I don't see a problem with banning a person from using their assistance money on gambling...or cigarettes...or alcohol...or pet food.
How does this play into a war on the poor? I'm asking seriously.

How would a clerk identify a person on welfare ? How would you feel if they assume you where on welfare based on the color of your skin ?

Sadly, no. I confused U-part wigs with invisible part weaves.  I don't think they know they are only invisible if you comb some leave out over them. They not doin that. Tracks sittin up there stickin out like Mitt Romney in a Popeye's McDonald's.  eta

I'm not sure of any way to actually do that except for denying people from using their ebt card. If they're just going to profile/stereotype people, then I agree that's not ok at all. It just seemed like people were taking issue with even trying to curtail what recipients use their welfare funds for. I just don't see a problem with saying a recipient can't use their assistance money on unnecessary stuff.

And there, is where the slope got slippery. But they can't stop people from buying lotto tickets with welfare money. They can only stop people from buying lotto tickets with EBT cards. Which means nothing more than that the people will have to use the atm located inside every store that sells lotto tickets to withdraw some cash from the card, and then buy the lotto ticket with that cash. I guess, they meant well, but again, pitiful proposed execution.
