Well then I don't think this trip is going to happen then!
I am a package girl and don't really know how to look for holiday stuff independently. Flights OK but don't know where to start in knowing what area to stay etc.
DC is a big place. Hopefully someone might know where I need to start.

Dulles is waaaaaay out anyways. You don't want to stay out that way. Look in areas that are metro accessible via subway such as Arlington, Va (Rosslyn, Clarendon, SOME parts of Alexandria) and Silver Spring, Takoma Park or Bethesda, MD if you aren't having luck finding anything in DC. If you find stuff in any of those areas I listed I think it would be worth it to call and find out the closest metro subway station as well.

You might want to consider airbnb
One word of advice. Get on it...like...today. Now. Immediately. Lol
I didn't have a chance to take a glance at Inauguration day rates/availability.

lol I knew I wasn't going to get serious answers on here. Happy to meet anyone but first need a hotel.
What's the best site I should look at? |
lastminutetravel.com
The hotels are hidden, but if you look at the photos and description, you can google and find out exactly what hotel it is. Usually 50% off expedia, hotwire, etc. prices.
I just took a look for myself.
Washington Mariott - 6 miles from airport..$95.22 per night
Ritz Carlton Pentagon City - 2 miles from airport ..$143.00 per night
Capital Hilton - 5 miles from airport..$134.00 per night
I'm about to book the ritz.
