Hi Ladies,

What is your recipe for your Glycerin-based leave-in conditioner/moisturizer/etc? I made one, but I think I did something wrong because my hair was hard and dry (though still flexible). Is it because I live in New England, perhaps I should put more of one thing and less of another in my mix? Here is what I made:

-2 ounces vegetable glycerin
-1 ounce extra virgin olive oil
-6 ounces tap water

Thank you so much!

I think the olive oil may be too heavy.  I use 2 oz glycerin, 2 oz grapeseed, and 8 oz of water....

It may also be the tap water if your water is hard...maybe try bottle. I used your same formual (water/evoo/glycerin) and had no issues.

I'm not at home so I don't remember the exact formula, but my mix is approximately:

240 mL water

10 mL glycerin

20-30 mL soybean oil

It works rather well.

Maybe divalane is right. How does your hair feel after a wash?

When I get home, I will post the exact amounts.

30 mL= 1 oz

5 mL= 1 tsp

6 tsp = 1 oz

The pharmacy or the bss.
I got mine at a bss for $2.29. It was 4 oz.
They may  have it mixed with rosewater too. This would cost more and come in a larger amount, but you needn't add any additional water to your mix if you get this one.

I agree. I switched from tap to distilled for my spritz and it has made a difference.

I wash my hair with bar soap made from oils and glycerin, so it feels nice -- flexible, strong, and clean. :) The water here in Mass is not hard, but prolly not really soft & nice, either. I will try the bottled/distilled water, and a lighter oil.

Thank you all very much for your recipes! And Girls1, I pay a full dollar more for the same amount of glycerin. I wonder if I can find it for cheaper by me?

Well, I didn't bother with measurements lol. I just mixed glycerin and regular tap water together in a spray bottle.  I am looking to add another ingredient, possibly lemongrass, but I'm still researching.

I have to say my hair has never felt so moisturized. Glad I hopped on the bandwagon.
