Epit, my sister is a minimalist when it comes to decorating the tree. She gets a tree that's almost to the ceiling and only puts on 1 or 2 little pitiful strings of lights. Very few ornaments. She says she hates too much stuff on the tree. I like for my tree to be a conversation piece, with each ornament having a story; and lots of them.
eta: by story, I just mean where I got it , or who gave it to me, what it means, or why I thought it was cute. I like to look at ornaments on other people's tree too.

my sister's trees are a trip. She'll have one ornament 'here' then another one all the way on other side of the tree. I'm like: what's this mess? lol

my husband doesn't care for stockings either. Sometimes I have to remind him the next day to check his stocking. But thankfully he knows I love that stuff and indulges me.
oh and tell your husband , a small stocking is no excuse. Our first year, hub brought a gift out later and said "this wouldn't fit in your stocking." No excuses. But next year, I made sure I had a bigger one.
