I started a thread around here not too long ago with links to Indian
markets all over the world pretty much. It shouldn't be too many pages
back, you should be able to find it. That should help you.
Nigerian queen hennas her hair with braids/twists in, as does tru. So you shouldn't have a problem.

I know that tru-blu and Nigerian Queen henna with braids in there hair. But they do a henna gloss not regular hennas. If you are braiding your own hair then glosses should be fine. |
Thank you I think i will do braids then. I want my hair to be thicker but i touch it too much when i take my braids/weaves out..

I bumped the thread with the locator in it for you. And, no that's not my baby. I'ts a lady on NP that I met and we share similar passions regarding our girls hair. My dd's hair isn't quite that long...but she's gaining on her!

There is a whole thread with gloss recipes in the growth section. Glosses should not be ruiner at all unless you make it that way. remember, you are adding henna to conditioner so that henna will act as a thickening agent as well.

I indigo my hair in a two step process and I did not have any matting issues. Maybe, you got a bad batch of indigo. |
Thanks for sharing that info. It's good to know that I might be able to eliminate the problem by trying a different type of indigo or batch. I loved the end result colour though. The powder looked as it should (deep earthy green) and is 100% organic so I suspect that quality isn't an issue but rather the particular brand of indigo itself. I might experiment with adding coconut milk if the problem persists and hope that doesn't affect the deposit of colour.

OK, so I made my mixture on Friday night:
2 boxes of Afshan Mehndi henna 2 mashed bananas about 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil about a half cup of pure honey about 2 tablespoons of ACV about 3 cups of boiling hot water
I mixed it all together, put it up in my cupboard, and tonight (Sunday night) just applied it
I have it in, put a plastic bag over it, and am under my bonnet dryer. Will stay under for about an hour or so, then wash it out.
I have to say, it laid my hair down like a damn relaxer, I was impressed!
Hopefully, I'll be just as impressed when I wash it out.

Good luck! Tell us how you went.
What do the bananas do? I've never heard of that in a henna mix.

my hair likes bananas--they seem to make it softer. but henna + bananas = my tub looks like hell. The henna mix did nothing for my hair, and I had to stand under the showerhead for over half-an-hour to get it all out of my curls -- i'm sure the banana helped w/that sorrowfest. never again--I don't think this is for me.
