I'm at home---and I have no vinegar lemon or orange juice! So I think I'll just go buy some lemon juice since it's probably the most acidic with a nice smell and try that. I'm going to do a little more searching to see how the egg thing works...or what other products might be beneficial.

i used apple cider vinegar in my last henna. i read somewhere it gives the henna a warmer, less brassy red than using lemon juice. you can see the results in my fotki. actually i used a mixture of lemon and vinegar, but mostly vinegar. it looks pretty reddish on account of the permanent dye adhering to the ends of my hair, especially in front and on top. next time i'm gonna mix some instant coffee in it for a browner tone.

I read this lady used carrot juice, but I'm going to use ACV because I keep a gallon of it on hand for my rinses...I might do some baking soda and peroxide highlights before I henna so I'll have some auburn streaks.....

You mix equal parts to make a paste and apply to your hair and leave on for like 40 minutes, rinse and condition....Wifey has the instructions in her fotki, she did them on her relaxed hair with no problems.....

Dang!!! How did I miss this thread. I love Henna! I want in. I need to start doing this on a regular basis with my lazy azz. I'm in the process of moving, but when I get settled, I'll probably do it every month. Is that cool?

Hey All! I am excited. I got all my ingredients. Coffee, Henna powder (Lawsonia), Apple cider vinegar...I love the health food store! I was just wondering if any of you had a particular recipe you would recommend.
Just mix the dry powder with the coffee grounds, then add cider vinegar until it's thick like paste?
