yep, for about 6 sessions. My university offered couples counseling. It didn't last long, the boo doesn't like telling anyone his problems. but I think its important sometimes. it allows you to air your grievances with a mediator there to enforce the rules of fighting fair.

No. If you decide to, do your therapist a favor:

Have a common purpose/goal for being there.
Be honest. Lying by omission is still lying.
Don't do it as a good look. Actually be ready/willing to work, not show up just to say you did/tried it.
Don't come to sessions to argue in front of an audience.
Follow up with homework and reinforcing positive/productive behavior when not in session.
Don't try to get consigns on everything you say.
Be as quick to point out your own faults and your responsibility for them as you are with your partner.

Just sayin.

I understand.

I do think it's ok to have an exit plan (maybe not a strategy lol), just in case. I don't think having a plan in case you fail is the same as planning to fail. I know it's semantics, but I think of those as completely different. It's the same way we approach business. We always have another plan in case something doesn't work out; but we're not planning to fail, but know failure is possible.
