Not the best pic, but I think it lays a lot better today after having it tied down all night. The look is growing on me. Might become a staple protective style for me Heart

Oh.
Hey everyone! (:
I'm just checking in to say I'm not doing yarn braids. >_<
Would love to, but my hair's too short!
I'll save it for another time though. Maybe when it gets to four inches.
I'll just be getting some new wigs. Big smile
Hope everyone(and their hair)'s doing okay!

To join, please give the following information and upload your starting pic (BEFORE JANUARY 1):

Hair Goal for June, 2013: Full APL

Current Length and State of Hair (e.g., relaxed, natural, texlaxed):
-CBL
-95% natural. I texlaxed about an inch wide 2 inch long section of leave out for a middle part but will transition that to natural.

PS of Choice: alternate with flat twist/updo twist out/homemade wig when I want it straight

Detailed Regimen while in PS: still experimenting since this is my first time in yeearrs I'll be wearing my natural, non weaved, non relaxed hair out. Most likely:

1. Pre poo with KeraCare creme conditioner overnight before wash day
2. wash/clarify with baking soda/acv every other week, and immediately style with flat twist using Elasta QP Mango Butter and eco styler olive oil gel. Wear for one week.
3.  Moisturize flat twists as needed with my BioInfusion olive oil hair lotion. Not sure yet how much moisture my hair can take before it gets product build up (which it gets easily). So probably moisturize every other day
4. Unravel flat twists and rock in an updo for one week
5. Repeat (with an occasional rocking of my wig when I want it straight)

*My hair will only touch a comb twice a month on wash days. I'm going for the jugular on this challenge!!

Biggest Hair Issue at the Moment:
Balancing dryness with product build up. My hair is extremely dry. It's also medium fine and porous. So it needs plenty moisture, but practically any conditioning treatment creates gunk on my hair. I have yet to find that balance!

Favorite Product:
Don't know yet, since my hair is breathing for the first time in a long time. But my hair loves basic ass H20!! Water is the only thing that reeallly makes my hair soft without being mushy. At the same time, I can't keep my hair wet and shrunken (b/c then it tangles and doesn't grow). I need to find a really light moisturizer that retains the moisture with minimal buildup.

Starting pic is on far right. On the left was Jan 2012 then May 2012

Welcome Newcomers!

My hair is still in a bun.. still moisturizing and sealing daily. Ive only been using purified water/honey to moisturize and seal with olive oil. i also pay more attention to my ponytail area.

Hair Goal for June, 2013: Healthy, thicker hair past SL (It's never been past SL except during my 1.5 year transition)
Current Length and State of Hair (e.g., relaxed, natural, texlaxed): natural currenty at CBL, fine coarse 4bcdefg LOL

pic taken in Oct 2012, i've since then cut off 1.5 inches so by the time I start the challenge, i"ll be back at this length.
PS of Choice: braids and buns (with synthetic hair)
Detailed Regimen while in PS:
I will TRY to moisturize as much as I can in braids but I don't like build up so it'll probably be once a week. I've had these braids in for two weeks and only moisturized once and did two scalp massages Confused SLACKING! I will moisturize today with Stay So Fro and continue this until I take these out. When I take these yarn braids out (Jan 10th or 11th) I will redo my edges or I'll be in buns until... I'm trying to let the style grow on me. I'll start experimenting with styles and such on weekends until I find out what products my hair likes, what defines my hair, and keeps it moisturized. I will DC when I take these out and do a henna + alma + indigo treatment. I will use my ayurvedic products up so I'll be doing washes and conditioning with them mixed with vo5 for slip. Once I run out of my powders(around March or April) I will purchase a new set of products based on what I have sampled during those two months that work for my hair, if it be ayurvedic so be it. I am trying to thicken my hair so hopefully two months worth will do my hair some good. Under my buns in my crown area, I will have my hair in medium sized twist to keep this area most moisturized.
Biggest Hair Issue at the Moment: Moisture retention, breakage in my crown and around my edges due to braid takedown and tight weaves, length retention
Favorite Product: Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Mixed Silk Leave-In Conditioner, Silicon Mix, Ion Smoothing Products from Sally's (Shampoo, Condish, AND ESPECIALLY the leave-in/dc)

Another tidbit, I will be going to my first natural stylist when I take these braids down after my weekend vacation to ATL (Jan 11-13th 2013) and getting her to trim my ends PROPERLY and give me some tips on how to thicken my hair. I may even get some finger coils, depending on her price.... if not I'll do them my d* self lol

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Still rocking my pincurled twists and I love the ease of caring for it. I've just been spritzing with a water glycerin mix (that I later added Rose Hip Seed Oil to). I spritz 1-2 twice a day and tie down at night with a satin scarf and so far it has been looking fresher than fresh everyday...today is day 3.
