I hate it when that happens. My second LF I stopped wearing because the stylist cut it too short and had no issues with it because it's what she wanted. Now I only have one stylist I can go to and I know she won't cut too much but I stay on her to make sure.

ok ladies...Im gonna explain how to cut layers into your wig the way professionals are SUPPOSED to...however, there are all different kinds of layers...the most popular however are round layers (think kim kardashian) which are shorter in the front and gradually get longer towards the back...sometimes the front and back are severely different, sometimes its slight and gradual...depends on what you personally like...are these the kind of layers you guys wanna achieve??

So sorry about your unit, Cali. Seems like you and the hairstylist were not on the same page. Did you take a pic of what you wanted? That would have been helpful. Her interpretation of what she thought you wanted is what she produced. I find sometimes we feel that a professional should know what we want. But, they don't. It kind of seems as if you left a lot up to her, so she just guessed. And went on past experiences. One things for sure, It wasn't what you wanted!!! Do you have any pics? Can you still rock the unit otherwise?

Mrs. Tia Baby, I totally get what you are saying. So, sorry Cali had to suffer. We African American sisters buy hair for a reason. I never liked it when my own hair had to be cut!! Much less one I paid 800 bucks for so I could have more options.

"Being that you are going to your stylist to only CUT your wig, your best bet is to go to a white stylist...while i would never really trust a white stylist to care for or style my REAL hair, they are extremely proficient at cutting wigs (especially wigs that are closer to a white hair texture [such as Indian, Malaysian, Chinese, etc] than a black hair texture [kinky-curly, super tight perm, etc])"
Best advice on this subject that I've seen!!! Thanks!!!!

exactly!! Its devastating to wait for your own hair to grow back out after a bad cut let alone the sting of an $800 investment being ruined by a careless or unable stylist!

I feel you. I still have a nature girl that cost me a condo...I won't cut it. But it needs to be..don't trust nobody.. not even myself. We pay for length..but to be honest..shorter is more realistic...in some cases... not your fault but certain lengths on certain facial features and textures defeats the objective of the length. When you are in Rapunzel mode (upon snatching it out of the delivery bag) you are in euphoria. But stylists (not in their defense) see facial configurations with hair "alla" time. They are trained artists and they are probably right..but we who are addicted..got no vision, no understanding for nothing except maybe one half of one inch! Ain't Nobody got time for that!! But make peace with it..it probably looks great and next time.. learn to snip is slowly yourself.. go to you tube and study up MA!!

The way I see it.... well it's like this. Not eery hair stylist is an artist. In fact, most are not. Just like not every cook is a chef. They are SERVICE PROVIDERS, and it behooves them to provide the service we pay them for, not the service they feel looks best on us - unless we ASK for that! (I hope I do not offend any hair stylists here). In other words, I would be pissed too, and I'm sorry that happened to you I too have had bad experiences with hair dressers cutting my own hair so I mostly cut my FLW myself, slowly, carefully. I have managed to find an awesome hair stylist who DOES WHAT I ASK, and if she disagrees we discuss, but it is clear to me her bottom line is, what I want rules, unless she totally disagrees, then she won't do anything Love this girl. Thing is, yes, we pay for length; we pay a LOT, and given this stylist that butchered your wig wears FLW herself, she should have realized the implications of chopping so much length off your wig.
