Are all hair vitamins safe to use even if you are taking medication for blood pressure control?. I have been reading up on the hair vitamins and as far as I saw they are only simple vitamins that are also in Centrum which is safe to take. Let me know about that please. Just being causious as usual.

These phamacists are probably tired of me calling and asking if this or that is safe to take. ha ha..

IF I HAD ANY QUESTIONS, I WOULD CHECK WITH THE PHARMACIST OR YOUR DOCTOR.

I WAS TOLD BY A FRIEND WHO DID NOT KNOW, TO TAKE BEE POLLEN, AND IF I HAD, IT MIGHT HAVE KILLED ME.  AFTER CAREFULLY READING THE LABEL, I FOUND THAT IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO BEE STINGS NOT TO TAKE IT.  I AM SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO BEE STINGS, AND A BITE MIGHT PUT ME IN THE HOSPITAL -- SO WOULD BEE POLLEN!

Definitely check w/the pharmacist or prescribing doctor
of the blood pressure pills. All blood pressure meds
aren't the same and work differently in each person's
body. For example: I take a beta-blocker, my mother
takes a calcium channel blocker and my husband takes a
diuretic. They're all blood pressure meds, but they
work in different ways. So, please check before taking
ANY other meds or vitamins while taking blood pressure
meds.

Yes, check with a pharmacist or dietitian before taking votamins with your medication as they could have side effects.

I can't give you clear examples now but I remember that certain vitamins react with blood thinning drugs and stuff like that.

It's always good to check with your MD, dietitian or pharmacist to be on the safe side.

Also it is good practice to read the leaflet accompanying your medicines as they usually give good information about contra-indications.

(What is a contra-indication? It is something that can stop or restrict a treatment being carried out).

I take a betta blocker too. It has to do with the heart right?.I thin the doctor said it helps prevent you from getting too nervous in other words it calms you. I think it prevents certain hormones from entering too quickly to your heart. But anyways such is life..we gotta do what we gotta do. I talked to the pharmacist today. She said its fine to take biotin, which was what i was looking for.so i bought the spring valley one 1000mcg at walmart for $1.38. I just tried it before i typed this so I will be sure to let you know how it works. I bite my nails and my hair has gotten so thin. I just cut it really short last week and I am trying to regrow it.
Sometimes I feel so jealous of my husband because he has the hair i want. Thick, curly and grows out of control. I have to send him to the Barber every two weeks but secretly i like it alittle long. Lol. Anyways ya'll thanks for the info.Ill be sure to keep posting.

Hey Tavia,

Glad you got that cleared up with your pharmacist.

Yes beta blockers are used for lowering blood pressure.  I remember doing a project some years back about the heart and beta blockers were one of the drugs used to control functions of the heart.  Anyway, here is a very useful site (reputable too) that gives you information about beta blockers and their effects.

Information about Beta Blockers

Take care
