Hi! I' ve just registered because I love your forum and I figured the 1st step of taking care of my hair is actually knowing my hair type, can I get that information trough a quiz or something?

Thanks for your time

1. Does your hair have any type of curl whatsoever?

if no then you are either type

1- straight flat hair typical of Asians and Indian women

or

4b- undefined hair that resembles the texture of a cotton ball

if yes then proceed

2. Is your hair wavy or curly?

if wavy then you are type 2 (a,b or c depending on the tightness of the wave) **a being the loosest waves and c being the tighter waves**

if curly you are type 3 (a,b or c depending on the tightness of the curl) **a being the loosest curls and c being curls similar to a marker**

or

type 4a (coils about the size of a crayon/pencil to pensprings)

I hope this little quiz helps.... If not the pictures located on this forum are very helpful

No one has bad hair especially people of African descent as society would like people to believe. It requires special attention but it is beautiful at any texture. Please don't feed into the good hair-bad hair complex.

I kno that wasn't the right word to put it in but my english does not go any further than that ( i'm portuguese) and i just had to find a word that every1 could understand what i'm talking about  u kno...

I hate seeing how girls my age are always saying that they want to marry white dudes or mullato's so they children have light skin. I hate it when people call me mullata because both my parents are black but I was now doing the same thing by hair thing

But I like what u just said I've been thinking the other day a and if Africa had developed faster than Europe than I would be considered to have "good hair" n Europeans would have "bad hair"   so it's all about circunstances

Sorry I talk alot,  but I just think alot about that type of stuff (prolly because of my age) n i'm sorry if i give out the rong message

There are different hair typing systems. I use the one on Naturally curly and blended beauty, but you can totally choose which ever one you want :)

Here's a list of some of them:
