Look what hair banding and going #TeamNoScissors  did for this guy's hair!

I will have what he's having!

Another option for curl pattern stretching/ hair protection for length retention... a couple braids or French braids  with natural oil close to 24/7 for a couple years.

PS I had to add that seeing that his ends are thin makes me feel much better about not cutting off my ends for the sake of a blunt cut.  Fairytail ends are nice too... says she on International Fairy Day (June 24th)

#TeamNoScissors Sharp cuts are not for everyone.

Thanks, I use Keracare Humecto after I co wash and I just leave it in my hair .  I also tried adding Let's Jam Gel to that. I braid it in 2 braids with a lot of that in when it is just slightly damp until it is completely dry. I generally keep it in a braid or 2 all the time. I also like using grape seed oil in it some times. This technique of leaving in a thick conditioner is based on the technique of Teri LaFlesh, the author of Curly Like Me. While she just lets her hair air dry natural with conditioner it in, I always stretch mine in braids. The technique of keeping the hair always coated with conditioner helped her grow hers down below her buttocks when stretched. I apply more Keracare Humecto every few days to dry hair when I re braid it. It simply strengthens and moisturizes my hair. Joico Moisture  Recovery and Hello Hydration are other options to leave in the hair at all times.
PS I wore my hair out loose today and it felt so vulnerable. When I came back home, I IMMEDIATELY detangled it with an extra large tooth comb, added more Keracare Humecto and rebraided it! I feel my hair is much safer braided up with a good coating of this and or grape seed oil at all times. I was SO afraid some of my hair would tear or break when it was loose when I was out so it felt very comforting to put it back in 2 Pippi Longstocking braids soothed with conditioner as soon as I got back in.

I had not done a Keratin Treatment in over a year.  A few washes ago, I started experiencing massive tangling which resulted in massive tearing of the hair with the comb during detangling  and over an hour detangling session. I said, you know what... to hell with this.  I am not going to lose my hard earned hair growth this way with tangling and ripping hair out in the comb detangling. So I did a Keratin Research Keratin treatment a few weeks ago. Since then, no more horrible tangling or rat's nest. No more massive tearing.  My hair feels stronger and the tangles just slide out with the conditioner and water in the shower.
Today, I enhanced the results of my treatment by using  Keratin Smooth 7 day heat activated treatment as a leave in and air dried in a pony tail. After it was dry. I pulled the ends of the pony tail to smooth it more with tension and passed the blow drier over it to allow the treatment to heat activate and smooth out the hair some more with minimal heat.  I will continue to apply Keratin Smooth 7 day heat activated treatment as a leave in after each rice wash and also leave in keracare humecto and maybe use a little apricot oil from time to time.

Detangling is a breeze again and ripping and tearing  hair with the comb is not an issue now.  Also, before doing this treatment, I really could not enjoy my hair because it would start to tangle within an hour of wearing my hair loose. when I tried to comb out the tangles, I would lose hair in the comb with tearing!  I had to keep it in braids all the time to avoid tangles! So I guess I will continue to do keratin treatments at least once a year as a length retention aid and to ease with manageability and to keep tangling under control.
PS: I will continue to use a few braids or a bun daily to protect the ends for length retention. But it just won't tangle as quickly now when it is loose or tear out as much during detangling.
