Please help.  I have a cousin who has relaxed hair and her hair has become thin.  She can fix it sometimes to make it look thicker but her hair needs help.  It's broken off bad and I think it affects her self esteem.  I've tried to convince her to go natural but she isn't ready and she is in an area where she wouldn't get support.  So what have you all tried to help get your hair healthy again?  Please list affordable products cause my cousin is a college student, lol need I say more.  Okay so good products that help relaxed hair, from shampoo on down to hair grease.  And if you could also say how those products have helped your hair.  Thanks in advance,

Blacksis

I would suggest to keep it simple.

In terms of moisturizing shampoo:

Creme of Nature shampoo (blue label for fine hair), Motions conditioning shampoo (there are ones formulated for fine hair), Mane 'n Tail Shampoo

or any shampoo that says conditioning or moisturizing shampoo.

In terms of conditioning, she can try:

ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Pak, Dark 'n Lovely Dry Hair Healer conditioner, LeKair Shea Butter Mango Butter conditoner, Elasta QP DPR-11, Mane n' Tail conditioner.  Motions Silk Protein conditioner or CPR, etc.  Some of them contain protein which may make the hair even drier.  So she should use this like every three weeks.

Hair moisturizer: BB Castor Oil and Aloe Vera moisturizer, Hollywood Beauty Carrot Oil or Olive Oil cream, ORS Carrot Oil Cream or Olive Oil Cream, Sta-Sof-Fro, 360 Afro Hair softener spray, Black n' Sassy Carribean Leave-In conditioner, coconut oil, olive oil (one by Palmer's)

This is a just a suggestion.  I hope some of them will help.  Just remember your cousin may not see improvement but if she keeps using some of the suggested products, over time her hair will improve.  She also might need to change some hair styling techniques.  Good luck to your cousin.

Some helpful products for me have been (in no particular order):

-Porosity Control shampoo
-Porosity Control conditioner & corrector
-Protective styles
-Lekair Cholesterol Plus
-Aphogee Treatment for Damaged Hair

Moisture was important in getting my hair on track. Some of my fave conditioners are (in addition to Lekair & Porosity Control):

-Garnier Fructis Long & Strong Conditioner
-Garnier Fructis Conditioner for Dry & Damaged Hair
-Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner
-ORS Hair Mayo
-Dark & Lovely UltraCholesterol

I use any of these mixed with honey & EVOO EVERYTIME I wash my hair. (Once or twice a week). And if you love heat like I do it may be much to your dismay that cutting back on the heat helped tremendously. Over the summer of 05 I used heat maybe 3 times and for the rest of the year about a handful of times. I used phony ponytails and cornrows to get me through. Afterwards, I had gained about two to three inches and my hair was in much better condition.

Cream of Nature (green bottle, ultra moisturizing is the best poo I ever used)

Neutrogena Daily Deep Conditioner and Deep Recovery Mask are my favorite in shower conditoners, the DDC is especially good for detangling
Also NTM Silk Touch Cream is an excellent leave-in conditioner

castor oil is good for improving the overall health of hair

ORS Replenishing Paks and LeKair Cholesterol Plus are great for deep conditioning

S-Curl is a great basic moisturizer

Honey and EVOO help keep breakage at bay
