I wanna straighten my hair today to check the length and I was wondering is Castor oil that comes in the jar a good heat protectant? If not what is?

I don't think oils are heat protectants, plus, oils will weigh down your hair and make it appear cloggy, you don't want that!!!  I could be wrong, I hope someone else can confirm that.

Try Redken Heat Glide!

I don't know if that would be a good idea to use Castor Oil.  I use this brand that came from Treasured Locks and I like it.  It's a spray

ok thanks. I need to look on the other side of the aisle at the moousse and hairspray and there I will find a heat protectant. Thanks so much. I am not gonna wear my hair out so I guess it really doesn't matter if it's weighed down. I am phony poning it until I see some good progress. Probably until I am below shoulder length

Yeah, no oils, and espcially not a thick ( and stanky) one.

At sallys, they have plenty of good ones, i love ceramic silk.

Castor Oil is way too thick and will tend to burn.  I think Fantasia makes a good one.  I use Simply Stylin but you can only get that one online.

I use Redken Heat Glide.  I don't wear my hair out neither Wink, my every day style is bunning.  You don't want greasy, weighed down hair, do you, however way you wear your hair, ?!

This picture was taken after I use Redken to blowout my hair, this is basically the results:

Becareful with sprays.   Spray heat protectants can sometimes contain alcohol, which will cause even more damage.  Thats what my mother used to use, and it done nothing for her.

I reccommend Redken to everyone, good luck with finding a heat protectant!

I saw that @ Sallys and picked up a bottle haven't tried it yet but thanks for the good review.

Like Kimberly85 stated read the back because most sprays does contain Alcohol.  I wanted to buy Ellin LaVar Heat Protectant read the back label and it contains Alcohol.
