I just learned something new today about the extent to which some African languages were retained in the diaspora!.

Any Ghanians here that speak the Kan language? And if so, can you understand this Surinamese man (descendant of a maroon community) when he speaks at about 6 minutes? I'm amazed that the language remained so intact in !

Can't post the videos for some reason. How annoying. Can someone help? Here are the links. In the first one, you see a Ghanian man visiting Suriname having a conversation with a Surinamese man who has never been to Ghana! They call the language Kromanti in Suriname and also in Jamaica
