I would start a bank where people (poor black people) could get micro loans (but not the predatory payday kind), financial services, and personal finance courses (including how to budget, save, plan for retirement, grocery shop, etc.).

Health food restaurant/store
Organic food, ethically raised meat, vegan and vegetarian options
and real estate for backup if the store doesnt work.

I agree with franchises as a conservative investment
I'd bring my patents to market
I'd open a microfinance bank in the caribbean
I have an idea about culture that could be monetized
I would create a business out of the things I want but don't want to waste capital getting (if it makes sense) ... like a fullservice salon and spa, luxury boutique hotel, maybe chartering private jet (everytime I fly, I daydream about a private jet while I ignore the hacking, sneezing, crying, the fact that I can't stretch my legs out)

For a guaranteed profit, I'd franchise a popular restaurant that we don't have in this town to bring it something new and different.
Then I'd use some of my profits from there to take a real risk and do a venture I really want like a plus sized boutique.

-i always wanted to produce movies also. so i may look into hooking up with authors and making their books come to life. my first book to movie would be coldest winter ever
