If marriage is a religious institution, they should take it off the books entirely. The government can handle partnerships and family law - and the churches can "marry" in their church who they see fit.
Let those things be completely different - everyone wins.

see the funny thing is I do believe everyone should have equal rights.. ( waits to be called out) However in my eyes gays can never marry because they will never fit the definition of marriage/husband/wife. "the state of being united to a person of the opposite
sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship
recognized by law" they want to be together and have certain rights
that married heterosexual people have let them, just don't call it a
marriage. AND DON'T say its approved by God, because it is not!

This goes back to what I said earlier, you cannot change human conditioning, your definition is what is commonly accepted by all humans. Look at us now, 500+ years after the middle ages and we are still under the strangle hold of religion. That antiquated thing that, if we are honest with each other know better than to believe in.

I Attend the Church of Christ . I really wish everyone could discuss religion topics with respect to everyone views . Cursing and insults brings nothing to the table . I always respect ladies like Toyko post . I realize she will never be a christian , but she will debate to the end with Questions verses Flat out insults. |
oh you're CoC too? interesting....my LS is the only CoC person i know. idk anything about this sect. all i know is that she refuses to marry someone who isn't CoC and i just thought it was all Christian...idk...it's like JW or SDA or Mormons where the differences seem more salient to me. |
I think some people confuse the Church of Christ with the Church of God and Christ . We have no instruments in our church . My husband is baptist . I refuse to follow all teachings based on my understanding of God's Word . Hard to explain in a topic on BHM .

It's not. God did not create marriage. Marriage between families and individuals was a common thing before Abrahamic religions.
