Another church topic y'all.

For the ones who have taken an active role in the church activities, what is it that happens during fundraising? Meaning, how us it organized. Is there usually a secretary involved ... What is it that happens?

There's a team involved that does the planning. If you have someone in the church with project management experience then that's a huge help. There's a lead go to person, secretary, treasurer, and you pretty much delegate the team to bring ideas then start the fund raising. car washes, talent show, find raising banquet charge a price per plate lots of different things. Are you trying to put something together for your church?

Its just like any other organization that fundraises...

Usually the benefiting committee will do the leg work. For example, if the youth want to take a trip they will determine what the fundraiser will be and all of the details.

If its something for the church...like the "building fund"..the church leadership (ie-deacons) will determine it and appoint someone to chair the fundraising committee.

Most churches however don't call everything thats a fundraiser, a "fundraiser". There are certain events that happen during the year that they expect to make a certain amount of money off of to include in the operating budget. So the annual Christmas play or annual anniversary concert where tickets are sold....is a fundraiser in a "kind-a-sorta" way. <<<<and this goes for any type of organization.

Thank you for your suggestions. Any advice for a church with a lack of organizational structure?

For example, my cousins church which I attend once in a while; their youth ministry includes members( a solid clique) that have attended the church for many years who start activities. However they do not really communicate with the new members of the church. They will start activities W/o including anyone, then complain that no one is 'helping'. It's hard for my cousin who wants to help out at times w/o stepping on anyone's toes. She is not particularly comfortable with the clique.
