@Sunny- I thought mac would be the perfect solution but it broke her out terribly. @Missy- hey girl! No, the dr. didn't run that test but after he put her on accutane i did some research and I wish he had looked into that first. Accutane is no joke. She eats oatmeal everyday. I wonder if the grains are the problem????She is trying to cut back on processed foods. I think lunch meat could be the culprit. It has tons of preservatives. @Sbrownie- She can't do mac but I love the idea of just working on the dark spots. Those dark areas are a beast to conceal. I'll give the orange eye shadow a try Thanks ladies. I showed her all of your responses and she wanted me to thank you for caring

In high school, I used Bobbi Brown concealer on all of my spots (which was a big portion of my face), blended that, then applied Bare Minerals with a kabuki over top of that.
No one ever knew my skin was half as bad as it really was because of that routine. I was on topical and oral antibiotics for my acne, never ended up trying Accutane though.

You can try Urban Decay's Naked foundation. It's lightweight, but provides full coverage should you need it-hence the name "naked". It's also buildable depending on the amount of coverage you may need. The best tip I could give is to use a "stippling brush" and just dot it on her face to cover the darker areas. This will give an airbrushed effect without looking like you can scrape it off with a paint scraper...LOL... Hope this helps...

Never even considered Urban decay. I was thinking that "naked" was going to be sheer. Lightweight and full coverage is exactly what I'm hoping will work. She is around kelly Rowland's complexion...a tad bit lighter. does urban decay come in that color?

She's acutally using bobbi brown now. The coverage is great but maybe her application is wrong because it looks heavy. Using it with the bare minerals sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

It has a pretty thick consistency so it can look heavy really easily. I was taught to apply the concealer in a X over top of the blemish, using a concealer brush on the actual pimple, then blend what's left outwards with my fingers (make sure they're nice and clean though!)
If you have a Sephora in your area, I'm sure the girls there would be happy to help match shades and try different swatches on your daughter, they can also send you home with free little samples of foundation if you ask. Beats spending $$ on something that doesn't work well.
Best of luck to you both!

I am in love with this foundation. I usually use dermablend, but I love this much better. Its full coverage with no concealer needed.

I concur using a stippling brush. Did she try covering scars first and then applying foundation as needed afterthat? It requires some practice to fine tune. I'm in the market for a new foundation.
