Your hair needs protein if it is too gummy and mushy and if it is breaking, rough, brittle, you need more moisture. Check out mizzslick's post for good products, if you haven't already. I don't think the mineral oil will really matter because you are washing it out.

sebastian has a protein call Penetrate I have used it for years on my clients and it works wonders you apply it and it get hard under a dryer like aphogee but 10 times better. 2nd step moisturize I don't care for Motion I would try moisture base by Sebastian and also PhytoSpecific conditioner and and shampoo work great on my clients. You sound as if you need a good hair cut and are you under any stress, are you taking medication are a new medication if so check the side effects. I had a clients that I had been doing for years , she came in a got her relaxer and days later her hair starting thinning and her edges where coming out, she call me right away, come to find out her doctor gave her two new medication , well one the side effects was thinning of hair and the other was hair lost. She stop right away and in two weeks when she came back in her hair had started growing back that quick.HIgh blood pressure medication will make your hair hard an brittle like hay so if that is the case, check with your doctor.Sometime we just need to lay off some of the heat.Good luck

Can Sebastian Penetrate be found at any BSS or at a salon type store (ie Trade Secret)?
Also upon washing out the Penetrate...is your hair detangled or do you have to follow up with a moisturizing conditioner?

Some beauty supplies carry professional products you can also type in you seach engine Sebastian Pentrate I sure there are companies that ssell it on line. After you put the Penetrate on and sit under the dryer without a cap it will get hard and cruncy, the rinse it out and shampoo once with a moisturizer shampoo and the use a moisturizer leave on about 10 to 15 minutes the rinse and style from there.I don't know what BSS is or trade secret I order straight from the companies I am a licensed cosmetologist.

NATIE!!!
If your hair is breaking off reallllly badly like you say it is, the last thing you should probably do is get a relaxer. Relaxers manipulate the hair and break it down and it doesnt sound like your hair is strong enough for that right now

I love Sebastian Penetrates and also Sebastian Potion 9. I learn something new everyday. I did not know that I should shampoo my hair after rinsing it out. I have always applied a moisturizer after, then rinse, and then my leave in.

HELLO , I READ ABOUT YOUR HAIR PROBLEM AND I DID HAVE A SIMILER PROBLEM SO I WENT TO A DERMATOLIGEST SO SHE CAN DETERMINE THE PROBLEM IT COULD BE COMING FROM THE DEBRIS ON THE HAIR SCALP SO SHE RECOMENDED A MEDECATED SHAMPOO FOR ME THATS CALLED BIOTIN TREATMENT SHAMPOO (IT SMELLS LIKE PEPPERMINT) AND YOU CAN ONLY GET IT FROM A STORE CALLED WHOLE FOODS ITS AN ORGANIC FOOD STORE THAT HAS A SECTION CALLED WHOLE BODY . YOU NEED TO FIRST CLEAN YOUR SCALP. THEN LAST APRIL I STARTED TO USE ANOTHER PRODUCT BECAUSE MY HAIR LINE (MY SIDES) WERE SO THIN THAT I COULDNT WHERE MY HAIR BACK SO I STARTED TO USE VIRGIN HAIR FERTILIZER THIS IS A MIRICLE HAIR TREATMENT THAT IM SURPRISED THAT REALLY WORKS AND BELIEVE ME IT WORKS IN JUST FOUR MONTS MY SIDES ARE COMPLETLY GROWN IN . SO YOU NEED TO TRY AND START THIS HAIR TREATMENT AND DONT FORGET WHEN YOU WASH YOUR HAIR ALWAYS USE THE BEST CONDITIONERS I RECOMEND PANTENE FOR COLOR TREATED HAIR. SO IN THE FUTURE LET ME KNOW HOW YOUR PROGRESS IS COMING ALONG. GOOD LUCK .

sebastian penetrare is a protein that hardens under the dryer like the old aphogee but to me it is ten times better, you rinse it out do a light shampoo after and use a moisturizer leave tha ton about 10 to 15 minutes rinse well then style. far as expense I am not sure what it is in the store I but direct from sebastian. I sure the beauty supplies double the price so it probably about 27-30 dollars a bottle.

You do not want to overdo protein. Your relaxer was a little over 12 weeks ago. I do not know if you are trying to transition, or if you are stretching your relaxer. Not everyone's hair can tolerate stretching a relaxer touch-up. Also, while stretching, hair requires more moisture more so than protein.

hello, i have 4a/4b hair and it tends to get realy realy dry. sounds like you need lots of moisture. i reccomend trying ORS olive oil moisturizer, add a half a capfull of glycirine and a few drops of olive oil! it works wonders for my hair and the breakage and dryness have stopped. you could also try adding a drop or two of glycyrine to your conditioners during co-washes and even you shampoos. this has realyl helped my and my sister with dryness in our hair. HTH x
