^^^shampoo and condition very well and use a good heat protectant. I use chi silk on my natural client and it works like a charm. u can also use biosilk...i like chi better. sallys has a generic version comparable to chi and bio that works just as well.

I bought my solia and used it for the first time last thursday. i have relaxed hair but when i wet it my s shape curls come back. (like that) I like my solia but i felt i had to turn it up very high (as high as it goes i think 450) to get the back of my hair really straight. i am trying to only flat iron once a week so i need it to get as straight as possible on wash day. (once a week, one week by me the next by my beautician) but my question is what temp do you set the solia at to get your hair straight?

The process I followed.
I hot oiled treated with African Best Herbal oil for 30 mins under my bonnet dryer
washed out oil and shampoo with nexxus Luxurious Moisturizing Shampoo
conditionered under bonnet for 20 mins with nexxus Humectress conditioner
put in aphogee leave in
put in netrogen 3 action
put in more african herbal oil
then air dried and flat iron and wrapped with a do rag

felt the back of my hair was rough when i finished by front was nice. am i not being patient enough when flat ironing.

i am new and accpecting any and all helpLOL

I have owned this flat iron for about 3 years. I wanted to buy the FHI Platform a year ago, but I was waiting on my Solia to break before I could justify spending that type of money. My Solia refuses to break, and continues to be such a good flat iron that I've given up on owning a Platform.

I got the Solia from folica.com too about 2 months ago.
My hair is relaxed, but doesn't matter what strength I use (and I leave on the the recommended max time)....my hair is still very curly... only looser.
I wash/condition, apply HE LTR and seal with Hot Six Oil (just a few drops) and air dry.  As I flat iron I spray each section with a bit of Fanatasia IC Heat Protector Hair Polisher.  My hair gets pin straight on a temperature of between 325-350 with 2 passes.

I have the hot pink solia and it works wonders on my hair,

-I wash and condition
-add leave-in
-add heat protectant
- air dry 50%
-blow dry the rest of the way
-add chi silk
-flat iron on 350-370
-pin curl it at night

I love my Solia! I like that I can use it even when my hair is a little damp.   I use a heat protecting spray when using it.  So far, I have tried one by Isoplus and Motions.  I like the way the Motions one smells.
