Topic: Stop, Breathe, and Clarify! Posted: 06 Nov 2009 at 5:17pm |

Soooo....for the past few weeks I was experiencing a few problems with my hair. It was shedding and breaking a little, dry, and just altogether didn't feel right. I tried DCing on dry hair, wet hair, overnight, adding coconut oil, with heat, without heat, protein, moisture...You get the picture. NOTHING was working. So as a last ditch attempt I clarified and BOY did it work! The breakage, shedding, and dryness was gone instantly! So the next time you're experiencing a hair issue, CLARIFY! Hope this is beneficial to someone!

This is what I learned a long time ago. I clarify 2-3 times a month. It baffles me to always read folks barely clarify once a month.

Yeaaaah....I've been kinda guilty of this lately. I've been having so much success with the CHI products that I've been using, but I'll definitely remember to do this 2x monthly to avoid any more scares.

Yeah clarifying is like using baking soda and cleanser 2 times a month to deep clean/clarify your pores from primers, foundations, sun screens, etc.
My hair is curly so I use products with cones for slip to detangle and to hold on to my strands. Clarifying cleans product build up so your strands can receive protein and moisture.
I add baking soda to VO5 Clarifing conditioner or ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo or baking soda and water paste or VO5 Clarifying shampoo.

I know what you mean. I'm clarifing tomorrow and for the first 2 weeks my hair is good. The third week it's so-so and then the last week it is dry dry dry and once I clarify the cycle starts all over again

You girls are crazy. If you wash once a month and use vegetable oil and a hot comb every day you are set. This has giving my hair a built in helmet. Nothing gets in to my scalp or anything. My gram says it making my hair nice and strong. It just won't grow any longer but its hard as a rock!!

Well since my hair is not as oily as most peoples hair I see no need to do it more than just once a month. If I do my hair will be over dry and brittle and then the breakage will start like before I started my journey.

I smell a troll...
Anyway, I use V05 clarifying shampoo and it really does strip all the buildup off of your hair. You're left with a strange squeaky clean feeling. I follow up with a DC that's mostly moisture and had a small amount of protein.

Yeah...she's been trolling on a couple of other topics too LOL at first I got scared because I thought it was my roommate (I just introduced her to BHM and her name just happens to be Jennifer Lynn)... but then I checked the join date. Can't be her. Unless she's got some hacking skills. [IMG>smileys/smiley36.gif" align="middle" /> [IMG>smileys/smiley22.gif" align="middle" /> |
I think you may be living with a spy....LMAO
