Topic: Unprocessed hair and smells? Posted: 05 Nov 2009 at 10:58pm |
So I was talking to a vendor and I took the advice of someone on here and asked them if they make wigs with unprocessed hair (not virgin), they said they have it but most customers don't like the smell of the hair. They said even after washing there is a smell to the hair...is this true or do I need to run the other way, b/c I've yet to hear of this ...

A lot of vendors will say they have virgin hair but that it's a light yaki or whatever texture, so I asked them if they have unprocessed hair and not if they have "virgin, remy hair".

I have never ever ever EVER received a wig from a CV that didn't have some kind of odor to it. Think about it.......do you sit quietly at your desk all day long, not talking, sneezing, coughing or whatever????? These wigs take hours upon hours to make and I know they are not made in silence or without a cough or sneeze or some kind of spit flying through the air onto my wig . WASH BEFORE YOU WEAR WITH A GOOD SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER....You won't have to worry about any odor or anything else on your head.

I always smell my hair when I recieve it,, hell Im often so excited I want to make out with the damn thing!!
But though Ive only tried chinese virgin/unprocessed on the virgin side, I will say that compared to the processed indian and chinese hair the virgin/unprocessed chinese hair do have a DIFFERENT smell to it. Wouldnt call it odor though, just a little different...

A lot of the ladies in the weave section mention smell to the hair.. some even say there are nits in the hair when they receive it.. If you are talking about buying wefted or bulk hair from a vendor such as ih.com then yes the hair may come with a scent to it... if you send that same hair out to have a wig made and you don't get a texture added to it then I would think the hair would come to you as it did in the bulk form.. with a smell to it..
guess it all depends on who u buy the hair from.. maybe the cv will wash it for u if you ask..

bweave that's the thread I had found and was reading they said it's true raw hair with that smell, if it doesn't "have a smell" they said more than likely it's not from a direct seller because it's already been washed so, I GUESS I might go ahead and place an order with them...but I still have some questions for the vendor Thanks as always guys!

I live in the land of "Indian Hair" sold by Indians. I went there and saw temple hair that they cut and brought over here to sell. I asked to see raw hair. They brought out a big funky arse bucket of nit infested stinking, skid row, homeless smelling hair. It stunk like a damned skunk! I touched it till I saw eggs all up in it and threw it down!
They BETTER do something to it to remove that pungent odor and to get rid of those nasty critter bug eggs.
Trust me, I have seen real temple hair before they do ANYTHING to it.
After they washed it, some of it still had eggs in it. I could still see them. The hair was not "ALL THAT". Some of it didn't look healthy. Some of it looked like the person had scurvy. I wondered if any of this hair came from an Aids infected person. I saw a documentary where they have plenty of HIV and also some sort of yearly festival where the men dress up like women and have sex with other men!!! Girls, I nearly flipped my wig!

IA with you AM. I was just reading an article from 2006 about the Indian hair trade. Some of the hair is from sick children and adults, it is not a pretty site. I alway wash and condition my units before I wear them.
Also, the less expensive hair is mixed with animal hair as well it is not 100% human hair no matter what they tell us; that hair is much more expensive than $100-$500.

Most likely, they obviously don't test the people before they donate .. I doubt this is going to stop anyone from buying any sort of hair though (well maybe one or two ) ... Cause its not like you can catch Aids from the hair ..

I dunno if I should even keep talking to this vendor or not, a lot of mixed reviews. I mean I guess it's a way to know for sure it's virgin hair you're getting...but lice? I'm on the fence here it DOES sound unsanitary I dunno if I should take the chance of getting a unit with bugs...a lot of people described the smell of a wet dog...I dunno though...
